Bulldogs fall to Nunez to open the 2020 campaign

CHALMETTE, La. --- The Holmes Community College Bulldogs lost two games Saturday to Nunez Community College to open the 2020 campaign falling 14-4 and 7-6.

Holmes is scheduled to play MUW on Thursday in Goodman at 3/6 p.m. before going to Wallace Community College-Selma on Saturday at 12/3 p.m.  

In game one, Nate Oswalt suffered the loss. He went two innings and gave up four runs on five hits with two strikeouts and one walk. Dalton Massingill, Chris Guthrie and Kenneth Moore also pitched in the game.

Tommy Easley led the Bulldogs with two hits including a homerun and a double. Jonathan Evans added a homerun. Austin Telano, Jaylen Armstrong and Dalton Luke added one hit each.

In game two, Cade Johnson, Matthew Koch and Alex Frillman each pitched in game two. Johnson went 1 2/3 innings and gave up six runs on four hits with one walk while Koch gave up one run on two hits. He had four strikeouts and one walk and suffered the loss. Frillman went 2/3 of an inning and had two walks and one strikeout.

Armstrong led the Bulldogs with three hits including a homerun. Bailey Rademacher had two hits. Frillman, Cole Drake, Moore, Easley, Logan Toups and Telano each had one hit.
