Bulldogs split with Nunez, falling 4-3 in game one and winning 5-4 in game two

GOODMAN --- The Holmes Community College Bulldogs split two games here today versus Nunez Community College falling 4-3 in game one and winning 5-4 in game two. Jonathan Evans launched a three-run homerun in the bottom of the sixth to give Holmes a 5-4 lead. Cade Johnson struck out two in the top of the seventh to preserve the win.

The Bulldogs improve to 7-5 overall. Holmes is scheduled to play Crowley's Ridge in a doubleheader on Monday at 11 a.m./2 p.m. You can watch the game live at holmesccmedia.com/white-channel.

In game one, Matthew Koch got the start. He went 4 1/3 innings and gave up three runs on six hits with three strikeouts and two walks. Landon Herbert went two innings and gave up one run on three hits while Cade Johnson went 2/3 of an inning.

Austin Telano had two hits in game one. Cole Drake added a two-run homerun in the fifth inning to tie the game at three.

Johnson picked up the win in game two. He went three innings and gave up two runs on three hits with two strikeouts and one walk. Nate Oswalt started the game and went four innings and gave up two runs on three hits with four strikeouts and four walks.

Telano led the Bulldogs with three hits including a double. Evans had two hits including the three-run homerun and a double.
