Twelve Bulldogs highlighting summer baseball rosters

The 2020-21 Holmes Community College Bulldog baseball team has 12 players participating in summer ball, according to Holmes Head Coach Scott DeLoach.

Participating in the Cotton States League are Alex Frillman, Olive Branch; Jase Grantham, East Webster; and Charlie Lott, New Albany.

Southeastern Collegiate League players are Tyler Starnes, Madison-Ridgeland Academy; Brody Wilkins, Madison Central; Kaidyn Harrell, Captain Shreve, La.; and Dalton Luke, Louisville.

Kenneth Moore of Leakesville is playing in the Deep South Collegiate League while Hayden Bosarge of Tri-County is playing for the Magnolia Stix, Hunter Barron of Yazoo County is playing for the Madison Thunder, Jacob Duncan of Hernando is playing for the Easley Baseball Club and Matt Jones of Raymond is playing for the Jackson 96ers.

"Playing during the summer is so crucial to the individual develop of our guys, especially this summer after everyone's spring was cut short," DeLoach said. "This is a game that is very hard to get better at if you are not playing regularly. Being able to go out and play multiple times a week, not only gets the guys into shape headed into fall, but it also allows our guys to play against some really good talent. The experience that some of our incoming guys are getting will go a long way as they adjust to the speed of the college game."

Recruiting players during the summer for future teams is very important to the success of the Holmes baseball program.

"Recruitment of the high school summer leagues is the life blood of our program," DeLoach said. "The summer months allow for us to go out and evaluate a lot of guys in short amount of time. Luckily, this summer Coach Blair and I have been able to identify a lot of potential future Bulldogs.

"In the future, we would love to start hosting tournaments and events on our campus," he said. "I firmly believe the more times we can get kids and their families on campus, the more at home they will feel here. The field work we are doing this summer will really aid in us being able to host future events and showcase our campus and baseball facility."
