Bio

Spartanburg, S.C. native J.T. Blair is in his second season as assistant baseball coach.

The Spartanburg High School graduate will join Head Coach Scott Deloach's staff after serving as a volunteer baseball coach at Birmingham-Southern College since June 2018. He has a bachelor's degree in business economics at Wofford College with continued study at Millsaps College.

After graduating from Spartanburg High School, he redshirted for a Spartanburg Methodist College that made it to the 2013 NJCAA Division I World Series in Grand Junction, Colo. After the season, he transferred to Millsaps playing for Coach DeLoach. At Millsaps, he played DH, pitcher, first base and catcher for two seasons. The Millsaps team made the region in 2015.

His first coaching job was at his old high school where he oversaw pitching. The team made the district playoffs two of three years and sent four players to Division I schools, six to junior college or Division II levels.

In May 2018, he came to Birmingham-Southern, where he was the lead instructor for the catchers and corner infielders. He also assisted with the hitters, coached first base, threw batting practice and helped in recruiting. He also handled all team travel. The 2019 team was the National Division III runner-up after winning the regular season and conference tournament titles along with their regional and super regional. He coached two gold glove winners making BSC the only four-year institution with two winners.

While at Birmingham-Southern, he also was an assistant coach with the Upstate Mavericks Organization working with the catchers and hitters. He was an assistant coach for the 17U scout team and head coach of the 16U scout team.

Blair will assist with normal day to day functions working with the hitters and catchers.
