Bulldogs go to 1-0 in the division with 28-13 win over Northeast

GOODMAN --- The No. 18 Holmes Community College Bulldogs jumped out to a 21-0 lead late in the first half and racked up 323 rushing yards for the game to pick up a 28-13 win over the Northeast Mississippi Community College Tigers here Thursday night.

With the win, the Bulldogs improved to 3-1 on the season and 1-0 in the North Division. Holmes will travel to Senatobia next Thursday night to play the Northwest Mississippi Community College Rangers at 6:30 p.m. You can listen to the game next week on the Bulldog Radio Network starting at 6 p.m. with the pregame show.

The Bulldogs got on the board first on a one yard run by freshman Terry Bryant. Connor McKay's extra point put the Bulldogs up 7-0 with 14:05 left in the second quarter.

Dylan Kelly got the Bulldogs on the scoreboard again with 7:28 left in the second quarter on a 29-yard run. McKay's extra point made it 14-0 Holmes.

Bryant got his second touchdown of the night with 5:54 left in the second quarter on another one yard run. McKay's kick gave the Bulldogs a 21-0 lead.

The Tigers hit a field goal as the time ended in the second quarter, and Holmes led 21-3 at halftime.

The Tigers scored three times in the third quarter, twice on a field goal and once on a two yard touchdown run with the extra point.

The Bulldogs' final score of the night came with 11:45 left in the game when Kelly hauled in a 40-yard touchdown pass from Jesse Wilson. McKay's extra point ended all scoring at 28-13.

Bryant had 21 carries for 116 yards and two touchdowns while Reggie Hayes had nine carries for 100 yards. Luke Wilson led the Bulldogs with 10 tackles while Jha'mauri Johnson had eight and Jatavis Whitley and Tyshauwn White each had seven tackles.
