Bulldogs fall to Lions, 56-21

SCOOBA --- Holmes Community College freshman running back Terry Bryant scored three touchdowns here Saturday, but it wasn't enough as the Bulldogs fell to the East Mississippi Community College Lions, 56-21.

With the loss, the Bulldogs fell to 3-4 on the season and 1-3 in the North Division. Holmes will play Mississippi Delta Community College at 3 p.m. on Saturday in Holmes' Homecoming. You can watch the game live on holmesccmedia.com or listen on the Bulldog Football Network.

The Lions got three scores in the first 11 minutes of the first quarter and led 21-0 with 4:33 to play in the quarter. Two running touchdowns and one passing touchdown with extra points gave the Lions their 21 early points.

Holmes got on the scoreboard with 10:06 to play in the second quarter when Bryant scored from one yard out. Connor McKay's extra point made it 21-7.

East Mississippi scored with 5:42 left in the quarter on a one-yard touchdown with an extra point to lead 28-7.

The Bulldogs scored just before halftime with eight seconds to play on a three-yard run from Bryant. McKay's kick made it 28-14 with East Mississippi leading at the half.

The Bulldogs took the opening drive after the half and marched down the field for a 10-yard touchdown run from Bryant. McKay's extra point was good to make it 28-21 with 13:38 left in the third quarter.

East Mississippi scored twice in the third on a receiving and rushing touchdown with extra points and led 42-21 after three quarter.

The Lions scored twice in the fourth on a receiving and rushing touchdown with extra points to end all scoring in the game.

Bryant finished the game with 160 yards on 27 carries. Holmes had 256 yards on 58 carries in the game. Kendrick Haynes, Johnta Walker and Demonte Holliman had six tackles in the game with Haynes having a fumble recovery in the first half.
