Bulldogs fall to Wolves, 27-21, in season opener

WESSON --- The Holmes Community College Bulldogs fell in the season opener here Thursday night to the Copiah-Lincoln Community College Wolves, 27-21.

Holmes hosts Jones College on Thursday in Goodman at 6:30 p.m. The game can be heard on the Bulldog Radio Network or watched live at holmesccmedia.com.

The Bulldogs took their opening drive and marched in for the first score of the game as sophomore fullback Terry Bryant scored from a yard out. Easton Curry's extra point was good, and Holmes led 7-0 with 7:02 left in the first quarter.

Co-Lin tied the game with 3:02 to play in the first quarter when the Wolves scored on a two-yard run, and the extra point was good.

The Wolves took a 14-7 lead in the second quarter on an eight-yard run and extra point with 4:21 to play before half.

Holmes tied the game at 14 when sophomore quarterback Tytus Heard carried the ball around left end for an eight-yard run with 6:58 to play in the third. Curry's extra point was good.

The Wolves scored with 4:21 left the third on a touchdown pass. The extra point was no good.

Early in the fourth, the Wolves took advantage of a Bulldog turnover scooping up a fumble and racing in from 65 yards out. The extra point was good to make the score 27-14 with 14:04 to play in the game.

Holmes scored late in the fourth when Bryant plunged in from a yard out. Curry's extra point was good.
