Holmes falls in non-division game with Jones, 23-7

GOODMAN --- The Holmes Community College Bulldogs fell behind 14-0 early in the contest and were unable to recover as Jones College won, 23-7, here Thursday night.

Jones got on the scoreboard in the first quarter on a three-yard run. The extra point was good, and Jones led 7-0 with 9:26 left in the first.

The Bobcats increased the lead to 14-0 in the first on an 18-yard touchdown pass with 5:22 left in the first. The extra point was good.

The Bulldogs got on the scoreboard with 15 seconds before halftime when sophomore fullback Terry Bryant plunged in from the one. Easton Curry's extra point made it 14-7.

Jones increased the lead to 17-7 with 10:54 to go in the third after nailing a 20-yard field goal.

The final score of the game came with 3:05 left in the fourth on a four-yard touchdown pass. The extra point was blocked by Orinthia May leaving the score at 23-7.

Bryant led the Bulldogs in rushing with 59 yards on 16 carries. Kyren Batey had 36 yards on 12 carries.
