Bulldogs fall to Rangers, 62-56; Lewis gets a double-double

 

GOODMAN --- The Holmes Community College Bulldogs dropped their second straight North Division contest here Thursday night falling to the Northwest Mississippi Community College Rangers, 62-56.

With the loss, the Bulldogs fell to 10-6 and 2-3 in the North Division. Holmes is on the road at Itawamba Monday night at 7:30 p.m. You can watch the game live on letsgoicctv.com or on your Amazon Fire or Roku devices.

Holmes led 5-2 with 17:38 to play in the first half on a layup from Tyler Williams. Holmes held on to the lead until the 10:43 mark in the first when Northwest took a 10-9 lead. The teams then swapped baskets before Jartavia Greer hit a three-pointer with 6:56 left in the first to put Holmes up 21-17. Northwest retook the lead with 3:42 at 24-23 and stretched it to seven, 30-23, with 1:10 left in the first half. Northwest led 30-25 at halftime.

The Rangers held an 11-point lead with 17:01 to play after hitting two free throws, and the lead was still 10, 47-37, with 9:34 left before Holmes went on a run. Josiah Lewis had two big baskets along with a bucket from David Brown and a three-pointer from Kaleb Higgins brought Holmes to within one, 49-48, with 7:20 left. Greer then hit a three-pointer with 6:12 to go to tie the game at 51. Northwest then stretched the lead back to seven during the final minutes of the game. Northwest outscored Holmes, 32-31, in the second half.

Lewis finished with 21 points and 16 rebounds to lead the Bulldogs.
