Bulldogs fall to Rangers, 81-75

SENATOBIA --- The Holmes Community College Bulldogs and the Northwest Mississippi Community College Rangers were tied at 32 at halftime, and Northwest outscored the Bulldogs in the second half, 49-43, to pull out the 81-75 win here Monday night.

With the loss, the Bulldogs fell to 12-10 overall and 4-7 in the North. Holmes is fifth in the North going into the final game of the regular season and must win to tie the division record with Itawamba and have a chance at making the state tournament.

Freshman guard Kaleb Higgins led the Bulldogs with 25 points while Josiah Lewis had 18, Jaylen Lester 17 and Brandon Weatherspoon had 12. Lewis finished with nine rebounds while Weatherspoon had eight.

 For the game, the Bulldogs shot 54.7 percent from the floor (29-of-53), 31.8 percent from the three-point line (7-of-22) and 52.6 percent from the free-throw line (10-of-19).
