Bulldogs win vs. Itawamba; will miss playoffs due to MACJC tiebreaker

GOODMAN --- The Holmes Community College Bulldogs knocked off the Itawamba Community College Indians tonight here, 64-60 but failed to make the MACJC Tournament due to a MACJC tiebreaker. Holmes had to defeat the Indians by 12 or more points to advance to the tournament.

With the win, the Bulldogs ended the regular season 13-10 overall and 5-7 in the North Division.

Holmes led 27-24 at halftime and then bested the Indians by one in the second half to pull out the win. The game was tied at 60 before Kaleb Higgins hit a three-pointer to put the Bulldogs up, 63-60. Holmes hit a free throw down the stretch to pull out the win.

For the game, the Bulldogs shot 42.9 percent from the floor (21-of-49), 31.6 percent from the three-point line (6-of-19) and 76.2 percent from the free-throw line (16-of-21).

Kaleb Higgins led the Bulldogs with 19 points while Tyler Talley had 16 and Josiah Lewis had 10. Lewis pulled in 16 rebounds in the game.
