Bulldogs tie with Northwest; await word on postseason play

RIDGELAND --- The Holmes Community College Bulldogs ended today's match with a 1-1 tie with the Northwest Mississippi Community College Rangers after two overtimes. The Bulldogs are now playing wait and see to see if they'll make the MACJC/Region Tournament.

With the tie, the Bulldogs went to 4-9-1 overall and 3-4-1 in the North Division.

Today was Sophomore Day for the Bulldogs as the following sophomores were recognized: Joshua Hinkle, Yoel Bacallao, Logan Howard, Henry Salamanca, Juan Rodriguez, Khalee Wilson, Luis Jimenez, Noah Scheider, Dalton Mailman, Braden Strickland and Bennett Crain.

In today's match with the Rangers, Khalee Wilson scored on a penalty kick in the 67th minute to put Holmes up 1-0. The Rangers answered the score in the 79th minute on a penalty kick of their own.

Against Itawamba on Friday, the Bulldogs won 3-0.

Yoel Bacallao scored on a Wilson assist in the 43rd minute to put Holmes up 1-0. Juan Rodriguez scored an unassisted goal in the 51st minute to put Holmes up 2-0. Wilson then scored an unassisted goal on a free kick in the 81st minute to put Holmes up for good at 3-0.
