Three Bulldogs sign with Belhaven

Three Holmes Community College men's soccer players, Cameron Bell, Brady Jacobs and Brandon King, signed with Belhaven University on Dec. 11 during a ceremony in the Ridgeland Campus library. Bell is a defender for the Bulldogs, Jacobs is a midfielder and King is a defender.

Bell, son of Pamela Cloninger, is from Pearl. An education major, he aspires to become a teacher and a coach. Bell says the best thing about playing at Holmes was playing alongside his best friends.

"Cameron Bell was if not the most improved player, certainly one of the most improved players on the team this year," Men's Associate Head Coach Ousmane Coulibaly said. "His work ethic was second to none reason why he made such a tremendous improvement throughout the season."

Jacobs, son of Merike and Brett Jacobs, hails from Cantonment, Florida. A sophomore exercise science/kinesiology major, he would like to become a soccer coach one day.

"Brady Jacobs was one of the most talented players we have had in the soccer program," Coulibaly said. "His ability on the ball, his vision and soccer IQ separated him from his peers."

King, son of Shelley and Geoff King, is from Southaven. He is studying sports science, and plans to play his next two years at Belhaven. King said his favorite memory from Holmes was hanging out with the guys, especially on the away game trips.

"Brandon King was one of our team captains this year," Coulibaly said. "His leadership which could not be ignored on and off the field and his talent earned him this opportunity to transition to a four-year school."
