Lady Bulldogs split season-opening DH with Bishop State

MOBILE, Ala. --- The Holmes Community College Lady Bulldogs split a doubleheader here Monday with Bishop State Community College, falling 11-3 and winning 9-8.

Holmes travels to Arkansas State on Friday for a 5 p.m. doubleheader.

In game one, Jessica Mitchell suffered the loss. She went two innings and gave up four runs on seven hits with two strikeouts and one walk. Katie Dana and Hannah Champion also pitched in the game.

Shelby Lindsay, Champion, Abby Welborn, Madilyn Manor and Madeline McCown each had a hit in the game.

In game two, Dana picked up the win. She went 4 2/3 innings and gave up eight runs on 10 hits with four strikeouts and two walks. Mitchell picked up the save in 1 1/3 innings and work. She gave up one hit.
