Bio

McCool native Katie Mitchell is in her second season as an assistant coach for the Lady Bulldogs. 

Mitchell came to Holmes last season as a volunteer assistant with the Lady Bulldogs and helped lead them to the Region 23 Tournament. Prior to Holmes, she was an assistant coach at Winona Christian for two seasons and a volunteer assistant at Ethel for one season.

She played softball at Kosciusko High School from 2014-2019 and helped the Lady Whippets to the 2018 State Championship.  At Kosciusko, the team won two North State Championships, five district championships. She was selected to the All-State Tournament team in 2018, Clarion Ledger Second Team All-State in 2017 and 2019, MAC All-Star in 2018, two-time 4-4A MVP in 2018 and 2019 and four-time 4-4A All Division.  She also played basketball at Kosciusko from 2016-2019 and was All-Division in 2019.

After Kosciusko, she played two seasons at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College and was a two-time NJCAA Academic All-American.

She holds an associate of arts and an associate of science degree from Mississippi Gulf Coast. She also has a bachelor’s degree in kinesiology with a concentration in performance fitness from Mississippi State University.
