Lady Bulldogs pick up 70-67 division win over the Lady Rangers

SENATOBIA --- The Holmes Community College Lady Bulldogs improved to 7-9 overall and 3-2 in the North Division with a hard-fought, 70-67, win over the Northwest Mississippi Community College Lady Rangers here Thursday night.

The Lady Bulldogs led 29-20 after one period but were outscored 23-9 in the second period to trail 43-38 at halftime. Northwest outscored Holmes 17-15 in the third to lead 60-53. The Lady Bulldogs outscored the Lady Rangers in the fourth period, 17-7, to pull out the win.

Holmes took a 61-60 lead with 4:53 on a layup from Jekalen Jones. A T'Onna Sims layup increased the lead to 63-60 with 4:13 to play. Northwest inched closer at 66-65 with 2:26 to play before Jones hit another bucket to put Holmes up 68-65 with 2:04 left. Ja'Breonia Veasey's two-pointer with :40 left ended all scoring in the contest.

Jones led the Lady Bulldogs with 13 points while Veasey had 12 and MiKayla Patton had 10. Patton led the Lady Bulldogs with 15 rebounds while Brysa Maxwell had 10.
