Lady Bulldogs defeat NE Lady Tigers, 47-46

GOODMAN --- The Holmes Community College Lady Bulldogs picked up a big North Division win here Tuesday night, 47-46, over the Northeast Mississippi Community College Lady Tigers.

With the win, the Lady Bulldogs improved to fell to 6-9 overall and 2-2 in the North Division. Holmes hosts Northwest on Thursday night at 5:30 p.m. You can watch live at holmesccmedia.com/white-channel or on your Amazon Fire or Roku devices.

Northeast led 5-2 early before Holmes clawed back and tied the game at seven on a free throw from Gabrielle Bunch with 6:41 to play in the first period. The teams swapped baskets until Holmes went up 12-9 on a three-point shot from Morgan Williams with 3:58 left in the first. The Lady Bulldogs led 18-14 after one period.

In the second, the Lady Bulldogs jumped to a nine-point lead on a three-pointer from Brysa Maxwell made it 23-14.  Jordyn Manning's three-pointer with 7:15 left put the Lady Bulldogs up 26-16. Another Williams' three-pointer stretched the lead to 11 at 31-20 with 3:05 left in the second. Holmes led 31-26 at halftime.

Northeast outscored Holmes 9-6 in the third as both teams struggled to score, but Holmes held on a to 37-35 lead.

In the fourth, the Lady Bulldogs scored the first six points of the period on a bucket form Manning and two free throws and a bucket from Maxwell to go up 43-35. The lead stretched to 10 points with 4:54 left when Maxwell scored in the paint giving Holmes the 47-37 lead. Northeast scored the remaining nine points in the game, but the Lady Bulldogs held on for the one-point win.

Manning led the Lady Bulldogs with 15 points while Maxwell had 11. Maxwell had 10 rebounds.
