Lady Bulldogs defeat Lady Rangers, 3-0; await word on postseason opponent

RIDGELAND --- The No. 11 Holmes Community College Lady Bulldogs ended the regular season 15-0 overall and 8-0 in the North Division with a 3-0 win here Monday over the Northwest Mississippi Community College Lady Rangers.
Today was Sophomore Day for the Lady Bulldogs as the following sophomores were recognized: Morgan McKinion, Bailey O'Connor, Cheyla Watkins, Madison Lee, Brookelyn Cramer, Pepper Ann Filbert, Nikki De La Garza, McKenzie Sims, Monica Stieh, Kaitlyn Goza, Jazmin Roman, Rosa Quintero and Sarah Chastain.
The Lady Bulldogs will be the North Division No. 1 seed in the MACJC/Region XXIII Tournament this weekend at Jones College after capturing the North Division championship last Friday against Itawamba in Ridgeland. Holmes will play the South Division No. 2 seed but opponent and time of semi-final game has yet to be determined by Jones College.
Isabella Wade got the Lady Bulldogs on the scoreboard in the 38th minute on an assist from Zoe Ellis. Ellis got a goal in the 69th minute off an assist from Wade. The Lady Bulldogs' final goal came in the 73rd minute on a Caseigh Hickman goal on a Peyton Montgomery assist.
Versus Itawamba on Friday, the Lady Bulldogs won 2-0. Wade scored on an Ellis assist in the 17th minute and then Ellis scored unassisted in the 53rd minute for the Lady Bulldogs two goals.
