Cariel Ellis scores four goals in Holmes' 4-2 win over Itawamba

RIDGELAND --- The Holmes Community College Lady Bulldogs went to 3-0 on the season here Friday with a 4-2 North Division win over Itawamba Community College thanks to four goals from freshman forward Cariel Ellis of Madison.

Holmes will travel to East Central on Wednesday for a 2 p.m. match and then host Northwest on Friday at Freedom Ridge Park in Ridgeland in a 1 p.m. match. Both matches are North Division tilts.

Itawamba jumped out early in the contest scoring two goals in the first half. The first goal came in the 10th minute while the second goal was in the 24th minute.

Three minutes into the second half, Ellis got her first goal of the day to pull the Lady Bulldogs within one. Bailey Thompson had the assist on the goal.

In the 68th minute, Ellis tied the match at two on an assist from Laney Smith.

In the 85th minute, Holmes took the lead as Ellis scored again on a Zoe Ellis assist. Ellis scored her final goal of the night in the final minute of the match to pull out the win on an assist from Smith.
