PERKINSTON --- The No. 18 Holmes Community College Lady Bulldogs went to 8-1 on the season after picking up a 6-0 win over the Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College Lady Bulldogs here Wednesday.
Holmes will play Motlow State in Meridian on Saturday at 10 a.m. They will then host Meridian next Wednesday on the Ridgeland Campus.
Holmes freshman forward Cariel Ellis led the Lady Bulldogs with a hat trick, all in the second half.
The Lady Bulldogs got on the scoreboard first in the 15th minute on a goal from McKenzie Thompson on an assist from Caseigh Hickman. The Lady Bulldogs then went up 2-0 on a goal from Zoe Ellis on an assist from Mackenzie Thompson in the 29th minute. Holmes led 2-0 at halftime.
C. Ellis' first goal came in the 50th minute off an assist from M. Thompson. C. Ellis then scored again in the 60th minute off an assist from Peyton Montgomery to make it 4-0.
Laney Smith scored on an assist from Z. Ellis in the 66th minute, and C. Ellis finished the hat trick in the 82nd minute off an assist from Bailey Thompson.
