Ellis and Williams receive MACJC honors

RIDGELAND --- Freshman women's soccer players Cariel Ellis and Carly Williams have been named MACJC Players of the Week for their play last week against Northwest Mississippi Community College, Gordon State and Oxford College of Emory University.

Ellis, a forward from Madison, who played at Madison Central, was named the MACJC Offensive Player of the Week while Williams, a goalkeeper from Flowood, who played at Northwest Rankin, was named the MACJC Goalkeeper of the Week.

In those three matches, Ellis scored 10 goals. She took 30 shots and 22 on goal. Against Northwest last week, she had five goals in one match and then had a hat trick against Gordon State. In the three matches, Williams had a record of 3-0. She had nine saves on 11 shots on goal in 184 minutes of play.

The two players will now be considered for NJCAA honors, which will be released tomorrow.
