Brown and Montgomery sign with Delta State University

Holmes Community College Lady Bulldog soccer sophomores Ja'Laycia Brown of Kosciusko and Peyton Montgomery of Coldwater have signed national letters of intent with NCAA Division II Delta State University.

Brown finished her career at Holmes as 5th all time in scoring.  She scored 16 goals and added 7 assists. She was awarded Offensive Player of the Year her freshmen season and finished with a perfect 4.0 GPA.

"My time at Holmes was unbelievably fun and a huge learning experience," Brown said. "The bonds that I formed with teammates over these past two years are ones that I know I will have the rest of my life. The reason I chose Holmes was because of the atmosphere when I came on my visit. I wanted to be somewhere I felt like I was apart of a family and that's exactly how I felt. The coaches are all top notch and took me to a level I never thought I could get to. To the players interested in Holmes, I strongly advise you come be a part of this family, you won't regret it. Wesley, the rest of the staff, and the girls will make you feel so welcomed and you won't want to leave, trust me!"

Montgomery goes down as 3rd all time in Holmes history in assists. She also finished 6th in scoring all time.  Peyton was an All Region Selection as a freshmen along with Most Valuable Midfielder.  She won the Bulldog Award her sophomore year.

"I wouldn't trade my time at Holmes for anything," Montgomery said. "It taught me a lot about true love for the game. Once I came on my visit I knew I couldn't picture myself anywhere else. If I could give any advice to potential future players, take the leap! You will develop a lot as a player and you will be challenged to limits you didn't think you could go. You will get where you want in two years, make friends for a lifetime, and have a coach that invests himself fully into making you the player you want to be so that you can go compete at an even higher level."
