RIDGELAND --- The No. 2 ranked Holmes Community College Lady Bulldogs went to 2-0 on the season with a 6-2 win over Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College here Thursday.
Holmes is scheduled to play Hinds on Friday in Ridgeland at 1 p.m.
Cariel Ellis got the Lady Bulldogs on the scoreboard in the 11th minute. Gulf Coast answered to tie the match at one.
Megan Richardson then put the Lady Bulldogs ahead for good when she scored in the 25th minute on an assist from Savannah Turner. Laney Smith scored a minute later on an assist from Richardson. Gulf Coast scored in the 34th minute to make it 3-2 Holmes at halftime.
The Lady Bulldogs went up 4-2 in the 58th minute when Ravynne Wilson headed in a corner kick/assist from Mackenzie Thompson. The duo connected on another corner a minute later to put Holmes up 5-2. Kaci Craft scored in the 66th minute on an assist from Thompson.
