KNOXVILLE, Tenn. --- The No. 5 ranked Holmes Community College Lady Bulldogs picked up two wins over the weekend here over CCBC Essex and Howard Community College. The Lady Bulldogs defeated Essex, 2-1, and Howard, 14-0.
Holmes will play Mineral Area on Friday at Northwest at 1 p.m.
Against Essex, Callie McKinney got the Lady Bulldogs on the scoreboard in the sixth minute. Brianna Lopez scored in the 44th minute to make it 2-0 at halftime. Essex scored their goal in the 78th minute.
Against Howard, Jacelyn Russ had four goals in the match while Olivia Deslatte and Lopez each added two. Kaci Craft, Jordan Patrick, McKinney, Jaelyn Hanson, Shelby Thomas and Darian Blackburn had one each. Russ' goals came in the 21st minute, 22nd minute, 48th minute and 52nd minute on assists from McKinney, Abbigail Hornke, Katelin Johnson and Lopez. Deslatte's goals were assisted by Johnson and Lopez had one assisted goal by Deslatte. Lopez assisted McKinney's goal, Russ assisted Hanson's goal, Tailynn Remmel assisted Thomas' goal while Blackburn and Craft's goals were unassisted.
