Lady Bulldogs pick up two wins on trip to Illinois

BELLEVILLE, Ill. --- The No. 2 Holmes Community College Lady Bulldogs improved to 5-0 here Sunday with a 3-2 win over No. 16 Southwestern Illinois Community College.

Holmes will play East Central on Friday at 5 p.m.

Kristen Phillips got the Lady Bulldogs on the scoreboard in the 14th minute on an assist from K.K Morris. SWIC tied the match in the 31st minute. The match was tied at one at halftime.

Holmes retook the lead on a goal from Tailynn Remmel on an assist from Jaceylyn Russ in the 48th minute. SWIC tied the match in the 49th minute.

Bailey Fairlee gave the Lady Bulldogs the lead for good in the 84th minute on an assist from Morris.

Addi Roberts played 90 minutes in goal and had six saves.

Against College of Lake County on Saturday, the Lady Bulldogs picked up a 4-0 win. Holmes scored all goals in the first half.

Phillips got the Lady Bulldogs on the scoreboard in the fourth minute on an assist from Russ. Brianna Lopez scored on a Russ assist in the 8th minute to go up 2-0.

Phillips scored again in the 14th minute on an assist from Christina Guzman before Phillips scored again in the 22nd minute on another Russ assist to end all scoring at four.

Roberts started the game and went 45 minutes and had four saves. Karly Murphy went 45 minutes and had five saves.
