RIDGELAND --- The No. 1 Holmes Community College Lady Bulldogs improved to 9-0 and 4-0 in the MACCC with a 7-1 win over the Southwest Mississippi Community College Lady Bears here Tuesday.
Holmes will play Pearl River on Friday in Ridgeland at 1 p.m.
Kristen Phillips got the Lady Bulldogs on the scoreboard on an assist from Brianna Lopez in the 10th minute. Southwest tied the match in the 16th minute before Phillips added her second goal on an assist from Lopez in the 19th minute giving Holmes the lead for good. Phillips got another goal in the 31st minute on a Lopez assist to put Holmes up 3-1. The Lady Bulldogs scored again before halftime on a header from Josephine Pittman on an assist from Lopez to go up 4-1.
Jaycelyn Russ scored on a Stevie Kerns assist to go up 5-1 in the 53rd minute. Tailynn Remmel scored in the 56th minute to go up 6-1 before Lopez scored on a PK in the 88th minute.
Addi Roberts got the start and went 45 minutes and two saves while Karly Murphy went 45 minutes and has two saves as well.
