Lady Bulldogs pick up 19-1 win over Lady Lions

RIDGELAND --- The No. 2 Holmes Community College Lady Bulldogs picked up a 19-1 MACCC win here over the East Mississippi Community College Lady Lions on Sophomore Day.

Sophomores honored included: Laila Anderson, Jordan Bertschler, Lillian Harvey, Brianna Lopez, Carmen Mason, Grace Mason, Karly Murphy, Josephine Pittman, Tailynn Remmel, Lani Roberts, Jaycelyn Russ and Madison Westbrook.

The final regular season ends on Tuesday at Jones at 5 p.m. The Lady Bulldogs, now 15-1 overall and 9-1 in the MACCC, have secured a playoff spot but await the results from Tuesday to see if they are hosting the NJCAA Region 23 Tournament or are traveling to another location in the state. Jones and Northwest are also in the hunt for the MACCC title and the right to host.

Holmes scored nine goals in the first half and 10 in the second half. First half goals included: Remmel on Russ assist, sixth minute; Bailee Fairley on unassisted, 18^th minute; Fairley on Kristen Phillips assist, 19^th minute; Olivia Tribolet on K.K. Morris assist, 22^nd minute; Christina Guzman on Leslie Carrol assist, 24^th minute; Phillips on Sammi Doyle assist, 24^th minute; Fairley on Phillips assist, 30^th minute; Tribolet goal on Phillips assist, 35^th minute; and Phillips goal on Carrol assist.

East Mississippi scored their goal in the 13^th minute.

Second half goals included:  Russ goal on Tribolet assist, 46^th minute; Russ goal on Tribolet assist, 48^th minute; Tribolet goal on Lopez assist, 48^th minute; Doyle on unassisted, 53^rd minute; Tribolet goal on Doyle assist, 55^th minute; Lopez goal on Russ assist, 57^th minute; Pittman goal on Russ assist, 58^th minute; Fairley on unassisted goal, 62^nd minute; Fairley goal on Phillips assist, 64^th minute; and Phillips goal on Harvey assist, 65^th minute.

Bertschler got the start in goal and played 12 minutes and gave up one goal. Murphy went the rest of the way and had two saves.
