Holmes splits with Gulf Coast, 12-2 and 8-7

PERKINSTON --- The Holmes Community College Bulldogs split a doubleheader Saturday with Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, falling 12-2 and winning 8-7.

Holmes will host Crowley's Ridge Monday at 1/4 p.m. Holmes will travel to Itawamba on Wednesday at 1/4 p.m. and then travel to Hinds on Saturday at 2/5 p.m.

In game one, Anthony Fidanza suffered the loss. He went three innings and gave up seven runs on four hits with one strikeout and two walks. Chris Guthrie, Eric Jones, Ethan Gowan and Dylan Ramsey also pitched in the game.

Cole Johnson, Austin Telano, Paul Green and Tyler Dobson each had one hit.

In game two, Payton Hanson picked up the win. He went three innings and gave up one run on one hit with six strikeouts and two walks. Albert Hughes started the game, and R.J. Pierce and Steven Lacey also pitched in the game with Lacey picking up the save.

Jonathan Evans led the Bulldogs with three hits including a double while Fidanza had two hits. Bryland Skinner had a triple while Hunter Dykes added a double.
