Cheer tryouts moved to virtual format; videos/information due April 24
Due to COVID-19 and campus access restrictions, Holmes Community College has decided to move cheer tryouts for 2020-21 to a virtual format. The deadline for the information and videos is April 24.
Requirements:
1. Complete Tryout Application. Go to https://www.holmesathletics.com/sports/cheer/2016-17/files/Tryout_Application.pdf .
2. Apply for Admissions to Holmes CC. Go to www. holmescc.edu.
3. Have a letter of recommendation from a previous coach sent to Heather Jones at hjones@holmescc.edu
4. Submit Videos (total of 5) to Heather Jones at hjones@holmescc.edu by Friday, April 24, 2020. In the subject line, use Last name, First name - which video (example : Jones, Heather - Intro Video or Jones, Heather - Fight Song Video). Feel free to use your YouTube or Vimeo link to submit your videos as well.
5. All videos should be filmed in White Tank or Shirt, Black shorts, Game Day Make Up and Hair or Cleaned shaved for males.
Intro Video - The following needs to be included:
Introduce yourself including name, hometown, high school
What position are you? Coed top, multi base top, multi base base, coed guy, multi base back
How long have your cheered?
Do you have any all star experience?
Tell your greatest strength?
Tell your biggest weakness?
Explain why you want to cheer at Holmes CC.
Tell me anything else about yourself.
Tumbling Video:
Demonstrate your most advanced standing tumbling
Demonstrate your most advanced running tumbling
(Tumbling must be on dead mat or grass - no spring floor)
Fight Song Video:
Perform the fight song with any incorporation (toe touch, standing tumbling, or spirit) in place of the stunt in the time through. In the second time through, spirit in the BULLDOG spell out.
Chant Video:
Chant # 1 (D-O-G-S) should be performed with the stunt "marked"
Chant # 2 (Hey Here we go Let's Go)
(These chants should be not be in the same video)
Stunting Video:
Due to Social Distancing and Stay Home Order, this video will have to be something pre-recorded.
Please have video of the most advanced skill, understanding that this will not be performed in white and black attire with game day makeup and hair.
Please remember that Toss Extension, Toss Chair and Libs (of any kind) is required to make the team, but please send that you have.
If you have not been to any stunt clinics or open gyms, please send several videos.
