Eleven Bulldogs receive MACJC postseason awards

Eleven Holmes Community College football players received postseason honors from the Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges following the season. Holmes had two First Team All-Conference players, two Second Team and five Honorable Mention players.

First Team players included sophomore offensive lineman Tovell Henderson, Jr. of Senatobia and sophomore defensive lineman Tavian Johnson of Madison. Second Team players included sophomore kicker/punter Easton Curry of Grenada, sophomore wide receiver Caleb Ducking of Rolling Fork, sophomore running back Dylan Kelly of Pearl and sophomore linebacker Tyler Taylor of Atlanta, Ga.

Honorable mention players included freshman quarterback Kyren Batey of Foreman, Ark., sophomore fullback Terry Bryant of Prentiss, sophomore defensive back Devlin Kirklin of Lexington, sophomore linebacker Terry McDaniel of Jackson and sophomore defensive back Cedrick Moffett of Georgetown.

Henderson played along the offensive front for two seasons for the Bulldogs. Holmes finished first in the country in rushing in yards per game with 312.4 yards per game. Holmes was third in rushing yards per game in Henderson's first season.

Johnson played along the defensive front for the last two seasons. This season, he finished with 26 tackles including 7.5 tackles for loss for 18 yards, three sacks and one forced fumble.

Curry handled punting and placekicking duties this season for the Bulldogs after only punting last season. As a punter, he had a 40.3 yard per punt average with 16 punts downed inside the 20 yard line. He was No. 6 in the NJCAA in yards per punt and had a long of 68 yards. He was 35-of-37 on extra points.

Ducking finished the season with nine catches for 207 yards with three touchdowns. He also had one carry for 71 yards and a touchdown.

Kelly was the Bulldogs' third leading rusher with 426 yards on 50 carries with three touchdowns. He had one catch for 21 yards.

Taylor finished the season with 47 tackles including seven tackles for loss for 28 yards, 3.5 sacks and one interception.

Batey led the Bulldogs in rushing this season with 657 rushing yards on 99 carries and six touchdowns. He threw for 174 yards and three touchdowns. Bryant finished the season with 574 rushing yards on 126 carries and seven touchdowns.

Kirklin finished the season as Holmes' leading tackler with 60 tackles including 1.5 tackles for loss, one sack, two interceptions, eight pass breakups, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery. McDaniel finished the season with 50 tackles including 7.5 tackles for loss, two sacks, two pass breakups and one forced fumble. Moffett had 34 tackles including one interceptions, four pass breakups, one fumble recovery and one blocked kick.
