BOONEVILLE --- The Holmes Community College Bulldogs battled with the Northeast Mississippi Community College Tigers to a 10-10 tie after two quarters, but the Tigers outscored the Bulldogs 27-10 in the second half to pull out the 37-20 MACCC win.

The Bulldogs took a 7-0 lead with 6:47 left in the first when Lonnie Ratliff scored from three yards out. Jalen Ballard's kick was good.

The Tigers answered the score with a field goal, and the Bulldogs led 7-3 with 3:45 left in the first. 

Holmes drove deep into Tiger territory and were forced into a field goal situation. Ballard's 25-yard field goal was good, and the Bulldogs led 10-3 with thirty seconds left in the first.

Northeast tied the game with 44 seconds left in the second quarter on a passing touchdown. The extra point was good, and the score was tied at 10 at halftime.

The Tigers took their first lead of the game at 17-10 with 14:04 left in the third on a rushing touchdown and extra point.

Holmes got another field goal from Ballard with 11:33 left in the third to make the score 17-13 in favor of Northeast.

Northeast added to their lead on a long touchdown run. The extra point was no good, and Northeast led 23-13 with 11:20 left in the third.

The Bulldogs answered on another rushing touchdown from Ratliff. Ballard's kick was good, and Northeast led 23-20.

The Tigers added two scores in the fourth on a rushing and passing touchdown. Both extra points were good to make the score 37-20.

Ballard finished the game 30-of-47 for 246 yards. Deriaun Townsend had 57 yards on 11 carries. Jahiem Shack had six catches for 75 yards.

Jalon Townes led the Bulldog defense with 11 tackles including two sacks and four TFLs. Zyonn Mayes had six tackles while Laquan Robinson and Leviticus Boyd each had five tackles with Boyd adding a TFL. Christavious Savior had an interception and Zy Perry added a fumble recovery.
