Bulldogs move to 7-0 on the season with last second win over Indians

FULTON --- Sophomore kicker Dan Lindsay nailed a 32-yard field goal with one second remaining to give Holmes a 27-24 win here Thursday over the Itawamba Community College Indians to remain undefeated on the 2024 season. Holmes outscored Itawamba, 20-7, in the second half to pull out the victory.
The Bulldogs, now 7-0 on the season, will play at Northwest Mississippi Community on Thursday at 7 p.m.
Holmes had their chances early in the first quarter to get on the scoreboard, but a turnover thwarted that drive inside the Indian 10. Neither team was able to muster points before the quarter ended.
The Indians got on the scoreboard early in the second quarter and led 7-0 with 11:08 to play. Minutes later the Indians added a field goal with 9:06 left in the quarter to put the Indians up 10-0.
Holmes answered on their next drive when freshman quarterback Chase Richardson found freshman receiver Cam Joseph from 38 yards out. Lindsay's extra point was good to make the score 10-7.
Itawamba scored again with 5:20 left in the second and led 17-7 at halftime.
The Bulldogs pulled within three points at 17-14 with 9:15 left in the third when Richardson found B.J. Johnson from seven yards out. Lindsay's kick was good.
Itawamba got their only points in the second half with 1:47 left in the third and led 24-14.
Holmes had a scoring drive late in the third that carried over to the fourth which resulted in a Lindsay field goal with 14:55 left in the game making the score 24-17.
Richardson pounded into the endzone from four yards out tying the game at 24 with 6:33 left after Lindsay's extra point.
As the quarter wounded down, the Indians pounded the ball on the ground looking to play for overtime and were forced to punt. Holmes got the ball back with a minute to play and used some crisp passes to move the ball to within Lindsay's range. Itawamba used a timeout to attempt to ice the kicker but Lindsay stepped in and nailed the kick to secure the win.
Richardson threw for 241 yards and two touchdowns. Joseph had 96 yards on four catches.
