Bio

Purvis native Carter Hankins has joined the Holmes Community College Bulldogs coaching staff as quarterback coach.

Hankins comes to Holmes from the University of Southern Mississippi, where he served as a graduate assistant. During his five years at Southern Mississippi, the Golden Eagles won the 2022 Lending Tree Bowl championship, and Hankins coached running back Frank Gore, Jr., who was named Sun Belt All Conference twice.

Prior to joining the coaching staff at USM, he played two years for the Golden Eagles for his redshirt junior and redshirt senior seasons. He came to USM from Pearl River, where he played two seasons of baseball and football at Pearl River Community College. He also played one season of baseball at Northwestern State. 

The Forrest County Agricultural High School graduate played baseball and football and was a member of the 4A Football State Championship team.

Hankins has his degree in Liberal Studies from Southern Miss, graduating in December of 2018. The Purvis, Miss. native has two master's degrees from Southern Miss. – Sports Management and Coaching and Sports Performance.

His is the son of Brad and Shannon Hankins and has one sister, Caroline. His father is the head football coach at Purvis High School.
