BOONEVILLE --- The Holmes Community College Bulldogs fell here tonight in the season opener at Northeast Mississippi Community College, 78-72.

Northeast led the Bulldogs, 39-37, at halftime and then outscored the Bulldogs, 39-35 in the second half. Northeast held a 73-58 lead late in the second half before the Bulldogs brought it to within four with just under a minute left.
Brandon Weatherspoon led the Bulldogs with 27 points while Kaleb Higgins had 12.
Holmes shot 46.6 percent from the floor and 61.1 percent from the free throw line.
