Clark signs with Mississippi College

Indianola native and Holmes Community College Bulldogs sophomore Darrius Clark has signed a national letter of intent with Mississippi College.

Clark, who played at Indianola Gentry in high school, has been a member of the Bulldogs for the past three seasons. He was a member of the 2021 NJCAA Region 23 Championship team that went to Hutchinson, Kansas for the NJCAA National Tournament. The Bulldogs won their first game of last year's tournament over Vincennes and fell to Northern Oklahoma-Tonkawa in game two of the tournament.

During the 19-20 season, Clark scored 4.1 points per game and pulled in 3.1 rebounds per game. In 20-21, Clark averaged 8.2 points per game and pulled in 4.3 rebounds. So far this season, he is averaging 7.7 points per game and 4.5 rebounds per game.

"I feel like the coaching staff treated me like it was home when I went on a visit," Clark said of Mississippi College. "I know Coach (Randy) Bolden really well."

"Defense-wise, I can guard the one through four and offensive-wise, I can knock down the mid-range consistently," he said of his skills.

Because of the coronavirus, players could take an extra year if they choose, and Clark and his teammate, Tyler Talley, did so. With the Bulldogs having great success last year, he wanted another shot at the big dance.

"Last year we won the championship, and we are trying to two-peat this year," Clark said. "I trust Flanigan and Coach Colbert really well. We've got listen to Coach Flanigan and Coach Colbert, follow the game plan and be disciplined. We've got to be dogs."
