Lady Bulldogs split two games with Northwest Saturday

SENATOBIA --- The Holmes Community College Lady Bulldogs split two games here Saturday with Northwest Mississippi Community College falling 2-0 in game one and winning 12-11 in eight innings in game two.

Holmes hosts Southwest on Monday at 2/4 p.m. and then travels to Coahoma on Wednesday at 2/4 p.m. before hosting Gulf Coast on Saturday at 12/2 p.m.

In game one, Mary Clayton Burrell suffered the loss. She went six innings and gave up two runs on nine hits with five strikeouts and no walks. Teagun Barnes led the Lady Bulldogs with two hits.

In game two, Brooklyne Eubanks picked up the win while Burrell picked up the save. Eubanks went 5 1/3 innings and gave up seven runs on six hits with one strikeout while Burrell went one inning and gave up one hit.

Skyler Busbea, Laura Fields and Jolie Smith each had three hits while Barnes added two. Busbea added a solo homerun while Barnes had a three-run homer in the eighth inning to give the Lady Bulldogs the 12-9 lead going into the bottom of the eighth.
