GOODMAN --- The Holmes Community College Lady Bulldogs opened their North Division schedule off here Thursday night with a 61-57 win over the East Mississippi Community College Lady Lions.
With the win, the Lady Bulldogs improved to 5-7 overall. Holmes travels to Mississippi Delta on Monday for a 6 p.m. contest. The Lady Bulldogs then host Coahoma on Thursday in Goodman at 6 p.m.
East Mississippi led 15-10 after one period. Holmes then doubled up East Mississippi, 16-8, to hold a 26-23 at halftime. East Mississippi outscored Holmes in the third, 17-15, in the third before Holmes closed out the fourth period strong, 20-17, to pull out the win.
Jekalen Jones led the Lady Bulldogs with 14 points. MiKayla Patton pulled in eight rebounds for the Lady Bulldogs.
