WESSON --- The Holmes Community College Lady Bulldogs had a strong first half in Monday's season opener but couldn't hang on as the Copiah-Lincoln Community College Lady Wolves won the non-division contest 75-56.
Holmes is on the road at Southern Arkansas University Tech on Thursday at 5 p.m.
The teams battled to open the game, and Co-Lin led 15-13 after one period. Sophomore guard/forward Brysa Maxwell of Ackerman hit a three-pointer with 6:35 left before halftime to tie the game at 21. She then added a free throw with 4:45 to put Holmes up by one at 24-23. The Lady Bulldogs led 35-30 at halftime.
Co-Lin stretched the lead to 56-45 after three periods and led by 10 points with 2:45 left.
Freshman guard Jordan Manning of Canton led the Lady Bulldogs with 18 points while Maxwell had 14.
