NEW ORLEANS, La. --- The Holmes Community College Lady Bulldogs suffered a 73-71 season-opening loss to Delgado Community College here Wednesday night.
Holmes plays East Mississippi at noon in Goodman Friday.
Delgado led 14-8 after one period and 35-31 at halftime. The Lady Bulldogs took a 58-52 lead after the third but Delgado outscored Holmes, 21-15, in the fourth to pull out the win.
Darranya Wright led the Lady Bulldogs with 26 points while Savannah Hailey had 12. Wright had 10 rebounds as well for her first double-doule of the season.
