MERIDIAN --- Holmes Community College freshman forward Cariel Ellis led the Lady Bulldogs with a hat track here Saturday in the Rush Invitational with a 5-0 win over Motlow State.
With the win, the Lady Bulldogs improved to 9-1 overall. Holmes hosts Meridian on Wednesday at the Ridgeland Campus at 2 p.m.
Holmes led 3-0 at halftime. Ja'Laycia Brown scored early in the contest to put the Lady Bulldogs up 1-0. Mackenzie Thompson then scored minutes later on a penalty kick to put Holmes up 2-0. Ellis got her first goal before halftime to put the Lady Bulldogs up 3-0.
Ellis picked up her second goal just minutes into the second half and rounded out the scoring later in the half. M. Thompson had two assists in the match while Caseigh Hickman, Kya Davis and Brown added one each.
