Holmes to face Northwest in Region 23 semifinals Friday

RIDGELAND --- The No. 4 ranked Holmes Community College Lady Bulldogs will face the No. 3 Northwest Mississippi Community College Lady Rangers in Ellisville at Jones College in the Region 23 semifinals on Friday at 4:30 p.m. The winner will face the winner of Pearl River/Jones in the Region 23 finals at 5 p.m. Sunday at Jones.

Holmes, 18-1 overall, defeated Itawamba, 9-2, in the quarterfinals on Saturday while Northwest defeated Co-Lin in the other quarterfinal. Holmes' only loss of the season came against Northwest earlier in the season, 1-0, while Northwest, 18-1 overall, fell to Jones in Senatobia for their only loss.

Kristen Phillips (West Lauderdale leads the Lady Bulldogs in points with 67. She has 31 goals and nine assists. Next in points are Brianna Lopez (Northside, Ark.) with 49 (11 goals and 27 assists); Jaycelyn Russ (Madison Central) with 42 (16 goals and 10 assists); Olivia Tribolet (Madison Central) with 38 points (14 goals and 10 assists); and Bailee Fairley (West Lauderdale) with 35 points (13 goals and nine assists).

Addi Roberts (Jackson Academy) and Karly Murphy (Hartfield) split time in goal this season. Roberts finished the regular season with 58 saves and gave up nine goals while Murphy has 21 saves and gave up three goals this season.

Holmes is scoring 5.89 goals per match and is giving up 1.46 goals per match.

Mari Julia Delgado (West Morgan) leads the Lady Rangers in points with 37. She has 13 goals and 11 assists. Next in points are Evie Crawford (Tupelo) with 36 (13 goals and 10 assists), Jadyn Duran (Centennial) with 27 (11 goals and five assists) and Alexandria Warner with 27 (12 goals and three assists).

Anna Kathryn Harrell (Tupelo) finished the regular season with 55 saves and gave up four goals on the season.

Northwest is scoring 5.68 goals per match and is giving up less than one goal per match.
