Holmes to face St. Charles Tuesday in NJCAA National Tournament pool play

TUCSON, Ariz. --- The No. 4 ranked Holmes Community College Lady Bulldogs will face the No. 9 ranked St. Charles Community College Cougars here Tuesday at 3 p.m. MT in the 2023 NJCAA Division II Women's Soccer National Tournament.

Holmes, 18-2, defeated Cape Fear on Sunday, 11-0, while St. Charles defeated Cape Fear Monday, 3-1 in pool play.

Kristen Phillips (West Lauderdale) leads the Lady Bulldogs in points with 71. She has 30 goals and 11 assists. Next in points are  Jaycelyn Russ (Madison Central) with 58 (24 goals and 10 assists);  Brianna Lopez (Northside, Ark.) with 55 (13 goals and 29 assists);; Olivia Tribolet (Madison Central) with 50 points (20 goals and 10 assists); and Bailee Fairley (West Lauderdale) with 38 points (14 goals and 10 assists).

Addi Roberts (Jackson Academy) and Karly Murphy (Hartfield) split time in goal this season. Roberts has 65 saves and gave up 10 goals while Murphy has 23 saves and gave up three goals this season.

Holmes is scoring 6.7 goals per match and is giving up .70 goals per match.

Maria Fernandes leads St. Charles with 54 points (25 goals and four asssists). Tess Roberts had 23 points (eight goals and seven assists) and Britini Benedict has 22 points (seven goals and eight assists).

Charlize Williams has 63 saves and has given up nine goals this season.

St. Charles is scoring 4.47 goals per match and is giving up .86 goals per match.
