RAYMOND --- The Holmes Community College Lady Bulldogs picked up a 6-1 MACCC opening win over the Hinds Community College Lady Eagles here Tuesday night.
Holmes, now 6-2, host Jones on Friday at 1 p.m. in Ridgeland.
The Lady Bulldogs got on the scoreboard in the sixth minute on a PK from Bailee Fairley. Sammi Doyle then scored in the 10th minute on an assist from Fairley to put the Lady Bulldogs up 2-0.
Kaylee Avant rebounded her own PK attempt and scored in the 30th minute to make it 3-0. Hinds scored in the 44th minute to get Hinds on the board. Holmes led 3-1 at halftime.
The Lady Bulldogs scored in the 48th minute as Doyle found Kristen Phillips to make it 4-1. Fairley then scored again on an assist from Phillips to make it 5-1.
Morgan Walberg blasted one from way outside on an assist from Avant to put Holmes up 6-1.
