ELLISVILLE --- The Holmes Community College Lady Bulldogs fell here Saturday in the finals of the Region 23/Gulf South District Tournament, 4-1, to the Northwest Mississippi Community College Lady Rangers.
Holmes, now 15-4-2, now await word on the NJCAA Division II National Tournament to be played later in the month in Huntsville. Holmes came into the region/district tournament as the No. 2 seed and No. 5 in the NJCAA while Northwest was the No. 1 seed and No. 1 in the NJCAA.
Northwest took a 1-0 lead in the ninth minute. They scored again in the 15th and 25th to lead 3-0 at halftime.
Northwest's lead increased to 4-0 before Bailee Fairley scored in the 86th minute to get the Lady Bulldogs on the scoreboard.
